Inspector Montalbano – Season 7

Inspector Montalbano is an Italian television series based on the detective novels of Andrea Camilleri. Episode 1 (August Heat): While a guest at the rented beach house of a fellow officer and his family, Montalbano discovers the body of Rina. Episode 2 (Wings of the Sphinx): The naked body of a young woman that has been shot in the face is found at a dumpsite. Episode 3 (Track of Sand): A badly injured horse dies on the beach in front of Montalbano’s house. Episode 4 (Paper Moon): Wealthy womanizer Angelo Pardo is killed in what seems to be a crime of passion.

Un village français is a French television drama series that centers on the people of Villeneuve, a fictional subprefecture, in the Jura, in German–occupied France during the Second World War. The series describes the life of ordinary people in a small town of rural France during the German occupation in WW2. It is extremely well documented, cleverly written and very well played.

Inspector Montalbano is an Italian television series based on the detective novels of Andrea Camilleri. The protagonist is Commissario Salvo Montalbano, and the stories are set in the imaginary town of Vigata, Sicily. Episode 1 (The Spider’s Patience): The kidnapping of Susanna Mistretta puzzles Montalbano. Her family, once wealthy, has fallen on hard times. Episode 2 (The Game of Three Cards): The death of a local construction tycoon Girolamo Cascio leads Montalbano back to the murder of Cascio’s leading competitor.

Episode 1 (Turning Point): Frustrated by his department’s repressive handling of security for the G8 summit in Genoa, Montalbano seriously considers resigning. Episode 2 (Equal Time): The murder of Angelo Bonpensiero would appear to be the start of a mafia war. Montalbano has his doubts.

The Voice of Freedom: Helenita Vargas

This is the story of Helena Vargas, a Colombian singer who longed to be free during a terribly machista time (the fifties), when women had more duties than rights and were expected to be only wives and mothers. Helena found in Mexican music a way to express her deep desire for freedom, overcoming all obstacles in a prejudiced society, beginning with her family. This Mexican music after years of struggle, would bring her success, but was also the origin of the worst humiliations. They also became the soundtrack of her two great loves: one that almost put an end to her life, and another one that filled her days with happiness.

Episode 2 (Montalbano’s Croquettes): As the small town of Vigata prepares for its New Year celebrations, local police inspector Salvo Montalbano is reluctantly making arrangements to travel to Paris with his girlfriend. Episode 3 (The Scent of the Night): Investor Emanuele Gargano has disappeared with the savings entrusted to him by the people of Montelusa. Episode 4 (The Goldfinch and the Cat): A series of mysterious muggings takes place in Vigata, ending in tragedy when one of the victims is killed.
